July has been a wild ride, but I’m still here.
Hola mi amores!
I’m back, and just before we roll into a new month, let me squeeze in one more blog post before July officially ends 😎. There has been a lot of progress this month, and I’m finally starting to find a rhythm. So first off, let me give you updates on this month’s goals:
July Updates!
I took myself out to a cute lil’ cafe for a couple of days this month to focus on the novel, I:
Rewrote the story synopsis - so I have a clearer idea of what this new story is about and can articulate that to others
Rewrote Book One’s outline - finally know how I’ll be starting this story and who I’ll be introducing and making sure I’m incorporating the story’s themes
Written out the prologue in outline form for book one - so this was initially a script for the graphic novel intro story. I’ve now figured out where to incorporate this into the books.
I’ve been using Kaytastic’s ‘27 Chapter method’ from YouTube to help me outline my story. I can’t lie, this has been so helpful in helping me sort through years’ worth of ideas, story snippets, dialogue and a myriad of characters to get to this point where I can see what story I’m trying to tell. Back in the day, I initially thought I would be writing and illustrating 5 books, because of all the information I had. I must confess though, outlining Book One was a lot 😓, and I’m only just starting on Book 2 and Book 3’s outlines today. I’ve been finding it difficult to think about how to structure and write the middle of the story, but today I’m going to sit down and knock it out 💪🏽 Wish me luck!
Up next:
still need to update the A&B website sections ie: story, characters
main character bios for Seven and Keizel + their character arcs
I’m also working on
a traditional art commission piece for a client
Prepping for a pop-up event in September
Ok, let me be real for a sec, this commission…. is kicking my butt! It has been way too long since I painted traditionally and I’m crap at it, but I will persevere because I’m enjoying working traditionally again, and I haven’t enjoyed art this much in a long time, so I’m sticking with it. Also yes, I’m taking part in a pop-up in September 🥳. I want to finish my Sun & Moon collection so I can bring it with me to this event. {I completed the ‘Sun’ collection: notebook, art print, bookmark & sticker}, and I’m also thinking about a wellbeing or Christmas card collection. I feel like it’s time to refresh my art and product collection and retire some of my old designs.
I decided to make my next 2 blog posts about my pop-up prep:
Product & event prep & pack and setup - designing the collection, sending to print, insurance, all that jazz - what are the things you need to have, bring, and remember + those extra items, which come in handy
At the event - set up, cash or card?{the answer is both} + Bonus - after the event - stock check, putting stock in the shop
So yeah, lots happening and I haven’t even touched on the Tarot card project I’m hoping to start before the year is out, along with character designs and concept art for A&B 😅.
That’s it for now. I’ll have the next post up soon, because I already started it and I’m on a roll 😉
Catch you on the flip side,
All that good stuff, T 🫶
